Portrait Sketches March 2012

I just put some of my portrait sketches in a page. I keep losing chances to draw as animation gets busy, but I still try to sketch people when I'm outside. I drew these when I was in train. Most of Japanese people are looking down when they are in train so it's little boring sometimes...

Trip to Yokohama

I got few days break between the terms so I went to Yokohama! It was first time to visit so I just went through famous places.

My first destination was China Town. It's one of the biggest China Towns in the world I heard.

I grew up in Hong Kong so it was nice feeling something familiar that I was away for a long time. I had pork buns and several kinds of dumplings. It was really awesome! I also enjoyed watching Chinese goods shops which I don't really know what they are selling.

Next destination was Yokohama red brick warehouse. It's basically a big shopping mall reusing historical building. There are many of Yokohama's local brands in this mall. They were unique and nice too see.

Here's famous Yokohama Landmark Tower. 3rd tallest building in Japan. I wanted to see inside too but I was already too tired at this point so I didn't. I realized that I didn't go to this kind of long trip for a while. The life of sitting in front of PC for almost whole day isn't good for our body, I guess. XD  Well, actually I had to keep my energy for the last destination...

This strange look building is the main reason I chose to go to Yokohama. It's called Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum. The heaven for ramen lovers!

Can you believe this is the inside of that building? It is the recreation of 70s-80s scene at Japan, and this place includes 9 ramen restaurants from all over Japan. Great thing about here is that all of restaurants have mini-ramen that is half amount of normal ramen. Which means you can try many ramens than usual! I had 4 ramens in total and was super happy. but I learned that we should have ramen when we are hungry, because I couldn't really enjoy the last one I had...I thought I gonna die...

Conclusion for my Yokohama trip, Ramen Museum is awesome. I gotta go again.

AM BF: Week11

First, I revised last last week's blocking. Problem of one-leg hop was pretty much solved.

and here's polished version of my excited walk from perspective view! I've spent lots of time for this last week...There were many small problems while I'm inbetweening, but I was helped a lot by my classmates and mentors. Thanks to AM community :)

Here's sketches and posed rigs as usual. Theme was "balance". I couldn't spend much time for them because of animation, but I kinda like finished pose.

Next week is the last week for the winter term! It's almost over!!!

Female Hip Study

I'm currently studying female anatomy, and I realized hip is such a difficult and also important part to show how character is sexy. I did some studies from photo, and here's a result.

AM BF: Week9

This week's assignment was polishing the vanilla walk I blocked last week, and here it is. I guess I did pretty good on this one. Once I smoothed out too much and looked somehow relaxed walk, but hopefully I could fix that...

...and here's this week's sketch and posed rig. Topic was "concerned". I wanted to do no.6 or 7, but actual rig has longer torso and shorter legs and I couldn't really pose them well... As the result, I ended up with the simplest one .
-updated on March 11th
I tried no.7 again, and I could make it! It seems like I just needed more experiment with torso's rotation. Looks more concerned than last one.

Art Block Buster: Week6

This week's topic was "Draw a storybook scene". There's no deep
thought, this just came up in my mind when I got the topic. I hope Wolf
looks scary/creepy.

-revised
-revised?
original colors bagged me a lot so I took all of them except red. Much
simpler and creepier I guess.
