Upper Torso Study1
Character Making Gym) taking place at amps. That day was focusing
on upper torso. They used really unique ways to teach so that was fun,
and of course I could understand about upper torso much deeper than
before. Hopefully this study shows some of my improvement in anatomy.

Simple Modeling
My first character and environment I modeled in my life! I was overwhelmed
with MAYA first, but I'm slowly getting used to it. We'll start animation from
next week. I can't wait!

Usagi Drop
Usagi Drop is one of my favorite TV-series anime on this season.
This heartwarming anime is done by Production I.G known for
Ghost in the Shell.
I love how character's acting choices are really subtle and believable.
There are lots of child characters in this anime but all of them are
really realistic and cute in natural way not like moe. I'm pretty sure
that they studied lot about kids.
Really recommended for anime fans who's already tired of moe,
real cuteness in here.

Kung Fu Panda2
I've watched Kung Fu Panda 2 today! I was waiting for this!!! Sucks
thing about living in Japan is that theater shows foreign movies sooo
late...I'm still waiting for Rango, Damn it! anyway
the movie was great! Lots of cool actions, funny gags, and impressive
acting. Generally, sequel tends to not really good, but this one was
awesome. Some actions were way too fast and I couldn't see what
characters exactly doing, but at least I could feel that there's speedy
fighting going on. I liked last one's story better but this one was good too.
I can't wait for DVD!

Buddha(手塚治虫のブッダ -赤い砂漠よ!美しく-)
I've watched feature animation, Buddha which is an adaptation from Osamu
Tezuka's manga. I LOVE Tezuka's manga so I was expecting something
good, but It was pretty disappointing...
Weird acting, cheap super natural effect, and even one of voice acting was
so terrible so that some audience laughed because of that. From technical
view, they seem using 1's for scenes that they don't need and using 2's for
scenes that they should do in 1's. I can't believe that this happens on
feature animation. I didn't enjoy the story too.
If there's someone interested in this,I recommend to check original manga,
much better than this movie.

Design Festa33
Last weekend, I went to Design Festa! It's basically a event for all creative
things. I went there to see mainly illustrations but I saw lots of other
interesting and inspiring creations there. Such an awesome event for
all artists!

Here's some pics
These are some post cards with crazily cute illustrations I got.
Japan is filled with CUTE things! I love it!!!
If you're interested in artists from these post cards, I've put some of artist's
links in "Great Inspirations"(right corner), so visit them! Most of links with
(JP)s are links added for that. (JP) stands for Japanese website by the way.
You can use translation website if you need.

Children who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below(星を追う子ども) Review
I've just watched Makoto Shinkai's(known for 5 Centimeters per Second)
new feature anime film, Children who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below.
here's Trailer
Same as 5 Centimeters per Second, it shows lots of really well painted
background and I could see how Shinkai really focuses on making a
beautiful picture. Every frame got nice lighting and composition,
so beautiful.
There was big difference in story comparing to his old films. He often
showed somehow realistic and nostalgic love stories, but this time, it
was ghibli-like adventure story which is good for family. Personally,
I like this one better because it's so simple and got happy ending(some
people might say different opinion about ending but I assume as that).
5 Centimeter per Second is kinda depressing for me...
I could smell Ghibli-ish style from trailer like character designs, but
it really had Ghibli's influence than I thought. Some points I noticed are
how character's hair reacts with character's emotion(think of Nausicaa,
when she got mad in the scene when her dad was killed) , and how
character eats.(specifically, how character chews. It really reminded me
of Ghibli) These factors made me feel like this film is less original.
Overall, I really satisfied with this film. I think it was really well
animated for whole film and got good actings for anime. All technical
things aside, I could enjoy this film until the end without getting bored.
At least it was good enough to make me cry. I've watched several new
feature animes since I backed to Japan, and this one is the best so far.
I don't know when it's shown in US or Canada, but animators should
watch it. totally worth it.
