AM PoBM: Week3

Here is my recent cossack dance animation in refining process. I was working with stepped mode for whole blocking process, so I had lots of troubles when I turn this in to spline...at least I learned something so that's good.

It's almost done!

POSEBOOK

I downloaded POSEBOOK by Stephen Silver so I did a quick illustration based on it.

It is a iPhone/iPad application he released recently. You can imagine from it's name but this is an application that contains tons of cool poses, demos, hand and expression references. Maybe it's not so essential as he keeps saying in demos, but I guess this is a great source of inspiration. What's so different from other ordinary pose catalog-ish books is that there're lots of exaggerated and cartoony poses in it. None of poses are so stiff and boring, and also model's costumes are pretty unique and cool(like pirates, gangster, barbarian etc...). There are male and female versions but they aren't so expensive. I guess it's totally worth it.

AM PoBM: Week2

Before starting blocking part, I've updated my reference to actual timing of what I'm planning to do...

and here's blocking I did. That took we sooo long....I've almost regretted of choosing this, but it seems like good start to me. This is the most important part so I'll spend more time this week depends on my mentor's feedback.

Stormy Day

A big storm came to Japan recently. It is terrible. Without exaggeration, I was in the situation like this.

Animation Mentor Psychology of Body Mechanics : Week 1

Second term started!!! There were many choices in the new assignment and I decided to do "simple dance move". I usually pick medium level for assignment choices but I felt like I want to make something stands out this time so I'll do the tough one. Even in the case when it doesn't work, I'll chose lower level for the next assignment. Let's see how this works...

I chose cossack dance to animate and here's reference I got. I try to do by myself but it's really really hard...I guess their leg muscles are CRAZY!

This is rough test I did using Degicel Flip book. I haven't tried animating with Cintiq before but it seems working okay. To me, Degicel was a software to just scan and edit, but actually it works totally fine to make animation on it. At least, it remains more hand-drawn taste than Flash or other Vector style software.

Cocky Girl

I had a day free so I could relax and use my time for personal stuff. So here's random character I drew. I used a kid's fashion magazine for cloth reference but pose and character are original.

Portrait Sketches March 2012

I just put some of my portrait sketches in a page. I keep losing chances to draw as animation gets busy, but I still try to sketch people when I'm outside. I drew these when I was in train. Most of Japanese people are looking down when they are in train so it's little boring sometimes...
